What is a CC Cream?

There are so many different creams out there, and honestly, figuring out which one is truly the best for your skin is practically impossible. With that in mind, our experts, when on a witch hunt, figure out which creams were the best and how each affected the skin. If you’ve made it to this article, you’re probably considering and researching a CC cream. So, what exactly is a CC cream? Well, in hindsight, CC stands for color correcting. Most CC products are marketing as all-in-one products. They are filled with various benefits for your skin, making them a much better choice than just a regular old foundation or concealer.

CC creams are great because rather than just being focused on being a good makeup, they actually can be considered one of your skincare products; “CC cream protects your skin from the harmful UV rays that can lead to photoaging.”

The sheer coverage of a good quality CC cream can also help to brighten dull skin. They are formulated with light-deflecting particles that make them a perfect fit for any morning skincare routine. The best CC cream may be hard to come by, mostly because it all depends on your skin. There are definitely better CC creams on the market, and the Erborian CC cream has shown to be one of the better options. Continue reading to learn more about this specific CC cream and why it might be the best CC cream or the worst CC cream for you!

Skin Type

Skin type is an extremely important concept for anyone who is deciding to up their skincare routine. Whether you’re looking for better makeup or better skincare products, it’s essential to know and understand your skin type. There are a few different main skin types, and each of them requires a slightly different TLC. Figuring out your skin type can be a bit difficult if you solely rely on your own reading and research. It can be a little bit overwhelming with how much is actually out there on the web, some things being a bit confusing. Experts find that the best way to figure out one's skin type is by taking this 5-minute quiz. Skincare lovers will quickly learn to understand their skin type and find out which products work the best after understanding the skin type.

CC creams, just like most other skincare products, skin type really does matter. It’s important to take that quiz and learn whether or not a CC cream like the Erborian cream CC cream is right for you! So let’s take a look at a few different skin types and decipher whether or not a CC cream is good for you and your own personal skin.

Oily Skin: Most CC creams, the Erborian CC Cream included, provide users with a matte finish, making them absolutely perfect for oily skin. The absorbent properties of this CC cream make it great for oily skin, absorbing quickly into the skin and not giving a heavy or oily feeling at the finish.

Acne-Prone Skin: CC creams are great for acne-prone skin as well. Being made specifically not to overload the skin and cause breakout or blockages in the pores makes it a great foundation. Now, when said, “it makes a great foundation,” that doesn’t mean it will provide as much coverage as a regular foundation. Keep that in mind when making your purchase. Although it may not provide as much coverage, it’s still a great option for keeping skin healthy and happy.

Dry Skin: Although the Erborian CC cream might be moisturizing and feel super great on oily skin, dry skin might be a different story. If you’re someone that has dry skin, it’s important to put a moisturizer on before the CC cream or use a different product altogether. It’s been said that a BB cream actually works better for dry skin due to its nature of having more moisturizing properties.

Erborian Skincare Products History

Erborian Skincare is a Korean-inspired brand. Koreans are known for their absolutely beautiful, smooth, and what seems to be blemish-free skin. There are a variety of reasons for this, but the main one is that; “Since ancient times, Koreans have only used natural, harsh-free ingredients for their skincare routine; green tea, “snail slime”, bamboo extracts, propolis, and honey are just some examples of the elements they used and have passed through generations.” With that in mind, it’s important to realize that products that are considered to be Korean-inspired are normally created with the basic integrity of being more gentle on the skin. While also focusing on the skincare aspect over the makeup aspect.

The Erborian Skincare company is known for its genuine concern for providing its customers with healthy skin and easier skincare routines. Even; “Often combining several products into one to make your routine more efficient and effective.”  A company that was established not too long ago in 2007. This company's goal was to take the original skincare routine of Korean culture and make it smaller and less intimidating to people of other cultures who weren’t brought up to spend the same amount of time on skincare.

Although that may be true, it’s important to remember that no matter what a company's values are based on, not all of the products found in Erborian Skincare products are clean, and some of the ingredients may cause flare-ups to those with acne or sensitive skin. With that in mind, it’s important to understand your skin type and potential reactions to new skincare products.

Benefit of Erborian CC Cream

Eliminates Redness

This lightweight tinted moisturizer is known to have a serious effect on different skin issues. Through various reviews and published works, this Korean CC Cream has been raved about. It not only gives a beautiful finish to any complexion, but it also really does eliminate redness, dark spots, breakouts, and much more. It was previously mentioned that CC creams are not meant to do the same work as a foundation. Something special about this product, though, is that with many skin types and minor skin issues, it can act alone as a foundation. Staying true to the color-correcting name that is a CC cream.

This CC Red correct is also formulated with a special blend of ingredients that not only makes it great for hiding redness throughout the skin but also great for those hot summer days. Offering sun protection of SPF 25, your skin will be super happy to be so hydrated and protected.

So how exactly is this CC Red Correct Cream so good at covering up redness and dark spots? Well, the fun part of this is actually quite interesting; after purchasing the cream, you’ll notice that it is actually green color. Making it not only great for the skin but also really cool to use. How does the green affect the redness? Think back to when you learned about primary colors. Remember all of those colors and the variety of colors that could be made after they were mixed together. Well, in this case, green and red are actually total opposites due to both being primary colors; “Because they’re direct opposites, these two colors counteract each other (at least when we’re talking skin and makeup. Painters may have a completely different experience.)”. Whether it’s due to the way it interacts with our skin colors or just the way it absorbs into the skin doesn’t really matter. As long as it works, right?!

Knowing and understanding the different ingredients found within skincare products should be at the top of your list when evaluating and researching. To be honest, even one ingredient that your skin might not react well to could ruin the entire product for you. If you’ve had a bad experience with a skincare product in the past, it’s a good idea to take a look at the ingredients and figure out which one was the culprit. Steer clear of any other skincare products that might have that ingredient.

Now I’m not sure if you’ve heard the idea that if you can’t read the ingredients, you shouldn’t use the product, but that’s not something to really live by. Yes, sometimes that’s a great way to live your life when buying foods and other things, but it’s also important to know what those ingredients are. This skin care product has a few that are pretty tough to read. Therefore, it deemed itself important enough to give a low down of exactly what each ingredient is used for!

1. Centella Asiatica Extract: Found in nature, this ingredient has a variety of healing properties; “It improves scratches, burns, helps heal hypertrophic wounds, enhances collagen, acts as an anti-inflammatory agent for conditions like eczema.” Making it a great addition to the CC cream due to its healing nature.

2. Tocopheryl Acetate: This ingredient is a form of Vitamin E, which is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps to protect the skin. Vitamin E; “Acts as an antioxidant helping protect cells from damage throughout your body.” It’s important to have enough Vitamin E throughout the face in order to keep it protected and produce enough Vitamin E. If someone has oily skin, they are likely to have more Vitamin E found throughout their skin, while people with dry skin tend to have less Vitamin E.

3. Glycerin: Glycerin is a special ingredient that is very important to have in skincare products. Especially if those products are moisturizing; “Because it acts as a humectant, which is a substance that allows the skin to retain moisture.” Explaining why the Erborian CC Cream is so beneficial to keeping the skin moisturized and feeling great throughout the day.

4. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate: This ingredient has been used as a sunscreen agent for years in a variety of different skincare products. Although it’s an older agent, it’s still known to be quite safe on the skin.

5. Titanium Dioxide: This is another sunscreen agent that is focused on keeping out those harmful UV rays; “It helps protect a person’s skin by blocking the absorption of the sun’s ultraviolet rays that can cause sunburn.” Although it might not necessarily be a ‘clean’ chemical, it has definitely been deemed safe to use in skin care products and will keep your skin healthy if used properly.

6. Ethylhexyl Salicylate: Another sunscreen agent fighting those harmful UV rays. It is part of the Salicylic acid family and will help to keep skin safe during those hot, sunny days.

7. Zinc Oxide: You may know zinc as the white stuff that lifeguards put on their noses in those old beach movies, but there are actually a few more benefits than just UVB protection. This sunscreen is actually known to; “Help minimize irritation, support wound healing, seal in moisture and protect the skin against the effects of US rays.” Making it a beneficial ingredient addition to add to this CC Cream.

How to Apply

Applying this CC cream is super simple! Depending on if you’ve purchased the CC Red Correct or the regular old CC cream, you’ll first notice the color of the cream. With the regular CC Cream, the color is white, and it’s actually infused with little skin pigmentation beads. Therefore, when applying it important to warm it up with your fingers first by rubbing it together and then blending it into your skin. The green will just blend into your skin as you rub it in.

Once it’s applied, that’s it! Make sure to rub all of the product in and blend it very well. If it’s not blended well, you may not get the full effect offered by the CC Cream. If you would like a visual of exactly how to apply the cream, Melissa Van Dijk gives a great example in this video

Where to Buy

There are definitely many different places where this product can be brought throughout the web. Our experts recommend buying from Amazon. Amazon is a great place to buy beauty products for various reasons. One of the main reasons, though, is with Amazon Prime, you’ll receive free shipping and free returns within 30 days of delivery. This is a super great benefit when it comes to purchasing skincare products. Especially when they are a bit more expensive, and you can’t be bothered to also pay for shipping! There are also a plethora of reviews provided on the products with Amazon; the best part is most of those reviews tend to be true. Unlike when purchasing from a website when all of the reviews managed to be 5 stars (haha, unlikely). Check out these two products below for more information and pricing!

Is It Worth the Price

So is this product worth the price? That’s a tough question to answer; to be honest, it really depends on your skin type and sensitivity level. Most users really, genuinely love this product, while some didn't see the results they wanted. It’s best for oily skin, combinations, and normal skin. It tends not quite to be enough moisturization for dry skin. With that in mind, it’s a great idea to try out a smaller product for less than the price just to see how your skin reacts before spending the entire $44.00. The Erborian CC Water Golden and the link provided actually travel size, making it perfect for a tester size also. So, spend the $25.00 and give it a try before going big and spending the entire $44.00.

Overall, this product is a great investment for someone looking to cut back on their makeup use and really perk up their skincare routine. Providing users with a tinted and matte finish that can help not only correct the skin colors but also protect it from the sun, Erborian has really outdone themselves. If you have clear skin and are just trying to hide some red spots, this could be a great alternative to that heavy foundation you’ve wanted to get rid of. On the contrary, if you have acne-prone skin, you might want to look into some of the better CC cream options dedicated directly to helping fight acne. With that in mind, someone with drier skin should probably either apply moisturizer first or use a BB cream rather than a CC cream. Although there may be a few negatives affecting different skin types, it’s still a great product that is totally worth a shot!
